Exhibitions & Public Programs Photographer
Challenge:
Create photographs that accurately and attractively represent the featured artwork and/or artist practices while meeting visual storytelling goals of the contemporary art institution. Be able to balance formal documentation with active, people-focused photography that communicates the artists’ intentions with their work. Move between shooting scenarios, adapting to lighting conditions and other situational needs as necessary.
Responsibilities:
Consult with the Director of Communications, the Head of Curatorial Affairs, Curators, and other exhibitions-adjacent professioals to identify photography opportunities and articulate challenges.
Coordinate and schedule on-site shoots.
Work directly with artists on portrait and copy work for their installations.
Exercise art direction skills throughout shoots to achieve aesthetic, documentary and storytelling goals.
Photograph, edit, rename and deliver digital photo files for screen and print.
Follow up with artists to confirm approvals for distribution.
